#MenageMonday and Cara Michaels

Hello! I'm happy to introduce you to another blogger with flash fiction content. Cara Michaels hosts Menage Monday every Monday and has also challenged her fellow writers to #WIP500. I was eager to ask her about these and other things happening on her site and blog. I started with the way I came to know about her and her site: Menage Monday.

What are the rules of Menage Monday?

#MenageMonday is a flash fiction challenge. Entries range between a minimum of 100 words to a max of 200 (with occasional special editions forays going a bit longer). There are three prompts that must be incorporated into the tale: a photo, a phrase, and a special judge’s prompt that changes wildly from week to week (we’ve had ‘a broken g-string’, Sherlock Holmes, a prehistoric dog, and lots of other cool stuff).

I’d already begun participating in a couple of challenges (#TuesdayTales and the now-defunct #HumpDayChallenge). One challenge used a word and picture, the other used 5 words. When I decided to start #MenageMonday, I decided I wanted a bit more length (both challenges I knew had a 100 word limit) and an extra special variable. To that end, I came up with the Judge’s Prompt. Each of my judge’s has come up with something unique to add to the challenge.

I never competed in the Hump Day Challenge, but I've interviewed Stevie McCoy about #TuesdayTales. Do you have many repeat visitors? How often does someone new join the ranks?

Naughty Nights Blog Hop

Naughty Nights Blog Hop
This is my first time participating in a blog hop, so go easy on me, being a virgin and all. I'm so virgin in fact that I don't have a book of my own to give away. My novella, Blue Moon House, is still going through its paces behind the scenes, so instead, I'm giving you a taste of the House and the vampires in it. For another, check out this Tantalizing Tuesday Teaser.

Tantalizing Tuesday Teasers - Naomi Shaw

If you follow the blog, you've already seen some my teasers posted for this weekly segment. Today I'm happy to host the originator of Tantalizing Tuesdays, Naomi Shaw. Where do the authors of Tantalizing Tuesdays meet?

I created a group on Facebooks where the members meet, sign up for the week and promote their stories.

And an interesting group it is! What else happens in the Facebook group?

Flash Fiction Friday - Inception

So, if you have been keeping track, the same players have appeared in all my Friday pieces this month. We started with John mourning Richard as the mysterious female appears. Next we have John sharing an intimate moment with Lara. Then we have the same Lara with her lover Therese. And now we have the event that caused Lara to kill Richard at the beginning, the Inception.

Lara’s grief consumed her. Her son, dead only moments after birth. She shouldn’t mourn him so, he would live with the men as soon as weaned, but she did. She hated that this tiny life had been stolen from her. Her lover and midwife, held her, stroked her, and Lara let the small pleasure from her touch build her magic back to life. As soon as it had, she called the crows to carry her son’s soul with them. As soon as the first caws were heard, she pushed Therese away. She would make sure the someone paid for this.

Stories of Life and Passion - Jean Joachim

So, Tuesday has come and gone and I thought I'd interview Jean about her personal blog. It's quite different from the Tuesday Tales, although, naturally, her contributions to that challenge appear on her blog. She also has regular postings for Free Chapter Friday. I'm curious about Friday, do you offer a different chapter each week? Is it always the first chapter? Do you repeat occasionally or only post when you have a new release?

I do post only the first chapter. That should be enough to tell a reader if they want to read the whole book. I won't post more than the first chapter. I change books each week. When I run out of my books, I will then post first chapters of other people's books alternating with repeats of my own.

That's a LOT of books! You post very regularly (every few days). Do you ever find keeping the blog overwhelming? Do you plan posts in advance so you can dig one out when you're stumped or too busy?

I do sometimes find blogging overwhelming. I've tried to organize a couple of days so I know what I'm doing and can plan in advance. I also leave blogs up longer than I used to. One day is not enough. So I've reduced 7 weekly blogs to about 3 or 4, which is much more manageable.

Yes, I started out recommending a blog everyday and found it more beneficial to cut that back and post every other day or so. Obviously, you participate in Tuesday Tales. Have any of the shorts you write for that feature turned into full length novels or novellas?

Tantalizing Tuesday Teaser

Here is an excerpt from my upcoming novella, Blue Moon House. I hope you enjoy it!

Harry picked her up and carried her to her rooms. “She won’t be available tonight, Nicholas. She has been too badly used.”

“Wait. Is he the last?” Julia asked. “The last vampire,” she clarified.

“I am,” Nicholas said.

“Then let me clean myself. Give me an hour.” She kicked her legs down from Harry’s arms and walked to the bathroom, wincing with each step.

Harry followed her. “You don’t have to do this. We have eternity, another week is nothing.”

Julia shook her head. “I might lose heart in another week. If I spend a week thinking about what just happened, I might believe more of it. I need something to come after that. Something else to think about.”

Harry hugged her, ignoring the horrible smell coming from her. “I’ll bring you an ointment. Apply it after you’ve washed.”

“Thank you,” she murmured.

She ran the tub and lounged in it, soaking away the aches, the new bruises over the old, the burning in her pussy and ass. Not long after she’d settled in, the door to the bathroom opened and Nicholas came to sit on the toilet lid.

Julia sighed. An eternity, but this vampire couldn’t wait an hour.

Tuesday Tales - Jean Joachim

Tuesday Tales is hosted by Jean Joachim. I thought to find out a little more about the group and the fiction they write. What are the rules?

Not too many rules. I must have the link and opening sentences by Monday 7pm. No promoting on our Facebook page except for new book covers. No word limits except for the picture prompts. Those must be 300 words. No rating rules. Just include the rating and genre with links. Continuing stories are welcome as are one-shots. All participants are expected to promote the Tuesday Tales site, not their own site. Opening sentences are limited to 2 or 3 only. No stories from published works. I think that's it.

That a decent list of rules. Certainly not constricting ones. Do any of the stories overlap (week to week) or have you found any authors using their WIP to make a Tuesday Tale?

Friday Flash Fiction - Magic Touch

Therese braced on her elbows as Lara gripped her thighs, spreading them further toward horizontal.

“That’s perfect, pet,” Lara crooned. “Try to hold yourself there.”

Lara’s tongue traced the exposed skin as her eyes traced the lines on the woman’s back. She continued to read the images, the spell, as she added fingers to her tongue. The ink seemed to swim as sweat covered Therese’s back. She was screaming, but Lara was lost in the magic that came with the taste of the other woman. Power burst blew through the room, shaking everything, and both women collapsed.

“That was perfect.”

World of My Imagination - Nicole Pyles

Today I have Nicole Pyles with us. She posts regularly about contests, reviews, and flash fiction. Her blog is varied and constantly updating. So I started with the obvious question: where do you find your topics? You have such a variation in topics, do you go looking for something new and different when you get stuck?

Well, my topic ideas come in so many different ways. Some days I will discover a news report that will just tickle my funny bone or give me a blog idea or I will have to comment about it. Some days writing is on my mind and I will want to discuss my current goals. What seems to be happening more and more these days is that in one way or another I'm reviewing someone's book (or a product), helping promote a giveaway or deal through an organization I'm part of, or a sponsored posts.

If I'm ever stuck for ideas, I like to read through other blogger's posts and sometimes those will help me a lot!

Ooh, something I already do. :) Do you have any regular features you turn to when a new idea flags?

Tantalizing Tuesday and Tuesday Tales

Update: Apparently Tuesday Tales doesn't appreciate my involvement in Tantalizing Tuesday. As a result my piece (which I still think is worthy of reading) has been bumped to the bottom.
Trying something here. I have two posts this Tuesday as I participate both in Tuesday Tales and Tantalizing Tuesday. I hope you'll take the time to read both (only 500 words total!) and check out the links to additional tales and teases.

Tantalizing Tuesday continues from my WIP, a prequel to Blue Moon House
Jocelyn shifted a little, swinging. She was completely suspended. She was also completely helpless. There was nothing she could do to free herself or even move more than a sway. The ceiling was higher than she had first realized and her crotch was only a little under Harry's chin as he circled her, examining.

Inhaling deeply, he said, “You were eager for this.” His tongue darted out and touched her hot skin. She shuddered, shaking in the harness, but barely moving. “Do you like it?” he asked, a finger tracing each of her lower lips, circling her anus and vagina and clitoris.

“Oh, yes. Yes.” She longed to move, to touch herself, to have him touch her more.

“Yes. I think your kettle is ready. I'll be right back.”

“What?!” Jocelyn turned her neck to follow him as he left the room. He wouldn't really leave her here, would he? She struggled against the ropes, trying to find a way down. She swung and twisted, but couldn't move more than that. She started to cry, scared. Had she handed herself over to someone who would hurt her? Had she made a horrible mistake?

“Look at you."

Just a note: Jocelyn is a biologist, so she does think in anatomical terms. She's a little weird that way. Check out all the other Tantalizing Tuesday Teases:

Roni Loren - Fearless Romantic

I am super excited to have Roni Loren on my blog! Here is a blogger who knows her stuff. She give tips on writing, blogging, and boyfriends. She has maintained her blog for a while now and we are lucky to be able to learn from her experience. So that's where I started.

You have been blogging for a while. What is the biggest change you've made to your blog?

When I started blogging, I had a blog called Fiction Groupie, and it was totally dedicated to blogging about writing. I built up a pretty big following and met a lot of great people through it. But after I got a book deal and knew I'd have books out there, I realized that I needed a broader blog. If all I talked about was writing, what was I offering to readers? My entire blog base was other writers, which is great in the sense that I heart other writers, but it was too narrow a focus. So I did the insane thing of keeping two blogs for a while, Fiction Groupie and an author blog, alternating days. I did that mainly because I was too chicken to leave that big following I'd built behind, afraid that no one would follow me over if I wasn't talking about writing anymore. But after my first book debuted, it all became too much. I had to consolidate. So I moved everything over to the author blog. I still blog about writing two days a week, but the rest of the days are for other things. And my number of visitors quadrupled, which was a huge shock. So I'm glad I made the switch.

I don't often mention that I'm a penname, but I'm familiar with maintaining two blogs. It is draining. And I'm not surprised! You added all those readers to your writing friends! (And probably a fair number of THEIR readers.) You have several recurring topics or features (Fill Me In Friday, Boyfriend of the Week). Did you stumble onto these in the process of blogging or have they been around since the beginning?

Flash Fiction Friday - Special Circumstances

John lay on his back and tried not to think about Richard, sparing him this. John watched the woman warily as she locked him in place.

“I can’t have you injuring me.”

“But you may injure me?” he asked, sceptical. He strained against the chain, flaring his magic with no result.

“I would never injure you. More importantly, I can’t without intent. Now quiet. I want to share something with you.”

Swirling light coalesced into a cube of ice in her fingertips. “Trust me, you are going to enjoy this,” she promised, holding the clear, dripping cube to his throat.

K.L. Phipps - Warped Exotic Mind

Today we welcome another new blogger on the scene. K.L. Phipps has been posting since March, just about as long as I have! So I asked her all the question a new blogger would like to ask. What has been your biggest hurdle so far?

Editing the blog for grammatical errors. Editing is not my strong suit at all. sigh

Heh, I'm glad I post in advance. Often I'll reread a post the day before and catch things. What social media do you use to bring readers to your blog?

At this moment, twitter is the only outlet. However, a facebook & website are in the works.

All things in their time. Your posts are very personal. Do you write when moved or do you maintain a posting schedule?

When something catches my eye or I feel the need to purge. Plus I had a discussion once with a follow reader that wished his favorite author was more open with the process they go through. I took his words to heart. So I let the readers see the full ugly process of creating a book as well as the author's journey to be published.

Showing the down and dirty are you? You have featured the work of at least one other author on your blog. Is that something you think you will do again?

Absolutely!!! I am a cheerleader for all unknown talent! Any person that has the courage to step out of their comfort zone to produce art has my full support!!!

Jots K.L.Phipps on her list of people to notify when Blue Moon House releases. Ahem, excuse me. You currently have two categories: Random Thoughts and Good Stuff. How do you determine what is which?

I typically make fun of myself. Random thoughts was created for the commentary blogs. The good stuff was created for the stories. I try to be considerate so people have a choice if they visit the blog and only wish to read one or the other.

Tries to think if she's ever made fun of herself on the blog... Do you expect you'll post more of your own writings? Are they generally works in progress or short/flash fiction pieces that stand alone?

Yes, I am very limited on time right now due to unfortunate events taken place in my life. All I seem to have time for focuses on writing the new book. But I plan to clean up the stories on the blog by the end of the week I hope.

I hope things sort themselves out and fortune shines on you again. We'll look forward to those writings!

Thank you so much for this. I appreciate it.

Tantalizing Tuesday - Paperwork

Jocelyn's mouth snapped shut as a naked man entered the parlor. His skin was a lovely olive shade and glistened very slightly in the lamplight, as though he'd been sweating. He didn't cover himself at all, giving Jocelyn a perfect line of sight to his manhood, hanging between his legs. She smiled when it twitched and lengthened slightly.

“Howard!” Sophia snapped. “Did I give you permission to leave your room?”

“No, mistress,” he admitted, hanging his head.

Sophia scratched a few more words onto the paper. “Return. I will be there shortly.” She waited until Howard had left before handing the paper to Jocelyn. “If you would return here, you must agree to these terms. Also, I need know who you followed.”

Jocelyn looked up from scanning the page. “Beverly Hargrave.”

Sophia nodded. “Did she tell you she comes here?”

“No. The same rumors mentioned her.”

Sophia sighed and smiled slightly. “Only rumors then, and one very curious kitten who followed them.” Sophia leaned forward and kissed Jocelyn's lips, touching her tongue lightly to them. “I hope to see you again.”

“I'm sure you will,” Jocelyn answered, watching Sophia's hips sway as she exited.

This is an excerpt from a prequel that I'm writing for my upcoming novella Blue Moon House. Please read the other wonderful Tuesday Teasers!

Flash Fiction Friday: Magic Lost

It couldn’t be. It simply couldn’t be.
“Richard, wake up. Answer me.”
No fluttering eyelids, no rise and fall to his chest.
John clutched the naked body, leaning low over the familiar bare chest as a ragged sob tore through his throat.
“RICHARD!”
“John.”
His head spun to the female looking down on both their naked bodies.
“I told you I would give you what you deserve.”
“How? How did you do it?” John asked.
“The way I do everything, with all my heart.” Her words froze John’s blood. There was no anger, no vengeful satisfaction, just cold hard truth.
